The Violet was a favorite of both the Romans & Greeks & was the national flower of Athens. Since about 500 B.C., the fresh Violet leaves have been used as a poultice to treat skin cancer. In the 1930's, Violet was widely used for breast & lung cancer & may today be a feature in alternative cancer therapies, especially after surgery to prevent the development of secondary tumors.
